I still think the idea of a super conference may only be a means to an end. Form a super conference to create enough separation to make it easier to implement a future decision without politics trying to influence it. For example, the future decision could be that power conferences plus a few other schools want to create their own division level within the NCAA or create their own association. Currently those options may not feasible because the politicians won't allow it. However, if super conferences are formed, then eventually even the politicians will see the gap within DI. Then when the decision happens, the schools could break up the super conferences and form smaller more geographically friendly conferences. If the conferences are willing to collaborate and pool their resources together for network contracts, then it won't matter who is in which division because the entire group is working as 1 (in theory).
